At Behaven Kids, we understand how overwhelming it can feel when a child needs extra support. Caregivers especially worry that therapy could interfere with preschool, kindergarten, or school progress. Our approach is designed to do the opposite. Through our Specialized Day Program (SDP) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, we help children build the skills they need to succeed in learning environments, both now and in the future.
Supporting Learning Through Early Intervention
Early intervention plays a critical role in a child’s long-term academic and social success. When children receive support early, they are better equipped to manage emotions, follow routines, communicate effectively, and engage in learning.
Behaven Kids focuses on early intervention that strengthens learning readiness, not pauses it. By addressing behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs early, children are often more prepared to thrive when they return to or remain in traditional school settings.
What Is the Specialized Day Program (SDP)?
Behaven Kids’ Specialized Day Program (SDP) is designed for children who are struggling in a daycare or school setting due to challenging behaviors, emotional regulation difficulties, or developmental delays.
While Behaven Kids is is not a school, SDP includes a structured education curriculum aligned with preschool and kindergarten developmental levels extending into 1st or 2nd grade with many of the skills taught. This ensures children continue practicing foundational academic and classroom skills during their time with us.
SDP Focuses On:
Pre-academic skills aligned with preschool and kindergarten benchmarks
Classroom routines such as sitting for activities, transitions, and group participation
Social-emotional development and peer interaction
Communication, attention, and independence skills
How ABA Therapy Supports Education
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a highly individualized, evidence-based approach that helps children develop skills that directly impact learning. At Behaven Kids, ABA is not separate from education it is designed to support and enhance it.
ABA Helps Build Skills That Make Learning Possible:
-
Following directions and classroom expectations
-
Emotional regulation and coping strategies
-
Communication and social interaction
-
Task completion, independence, and focus
For younger children, ABA can be incorporated into SDP to address skill gaps early. For older children, ABA therapy can be provided alongside school, without removing them from their educational environment.
SDP With ABA: A Supportive Alternative for Some Children
For children who need ABA therapy but are struggling to succeed in a traditional preschool or kindergarten setting, SDP with ABA incorporated may be beneficial option.
In some cases, remaining in a classroom without addressing underlying challenges can result in:
-
Missed instruction due to behavioral disruptions
-
Increased frustration or avoidance of learning
-
Difficulty accessing peer relationships or classroom activities
SDP with ABA allows children to receive targeted behavioral support while continuing developmentally appropriate learning. Helping reduce barriers and build readiness for school success.
