William Lindsey
Mental Health Therapist- PLMHP
William “Bill” Lindsey began working with children and adolescents in 1987 as a Mental Health Technician on a Psychiatric Unit in Lincoln, NE. As time went on, Bill started getting more involved with the treatment teams and desired to learn about the many difficulties that children/adolescents can be forced to deal with.
During this same period in time, Bill served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve. Bill was subsequently placed on Active Duty in 2005, serving for (1 year) in Afghanistan as an Embedded Tactical Trainer for the Afghanistan National Army. Bill was also a Medical Evacuation Helicopter Pilot from 1992 to 1995. Bill retired from the military after 24 years of service with the rank of Captain. At Behaven Kids, we are appreciative of Bill’s dedication of service to our Country and the Community writ large.
In 2013—after retiring from the military—Bill received his Master’s degrees in both Counseling, and Psychology. Bill has experience working with Veterans, adults, adolescents, and children, as well as those who suffer with various types of addictions, severe mental health issues (e.g., Schizophrenia), and day-to-day struggles, such as anxiety and depression. Bill has a particular affinity in dealing with children and adolescents who suffer with difficulties in following directions (i.e., noncompliance), general behavior management, and staying on task. Through his experiences, Bill has learned that taking a “team approach,” involving the whole family (including family therapy sessions) , can greatly help children behave in a consistent, more-appropriate manner, which ultimately leads to the best outcomes and makes home/school life less stressful for parents and community stakeholders alike.
Bill believes that, “here at Behaven Kids we have a great system and by working together as a team we can help to make your child be the best version of themselves.”
